Planning Success – Change of Use to Children’s Home, West Lindsey

We are delighted to share another Planning House success story,  securing planning approval for the change of use from a C3 dwelling to a C2 Children’s Home in Marton, Gainsborough (West Lindsey District), on behalf of Illuminate Care Group.

This positive decision means that a former family dwelling within a lovely village setting can now provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for children who need it most.

Supporting Children in a Family-Style Environment

The home will operate for up to four children, supported around the clock by trained staff working in rolling shifts to ensure consistency and stability.  The model of care is designed to mirror family life as closely as possible, with shared mealtimes, school routines, community involvement, and a trauma-informed approach that focuses on relationships, stability and emotional wellbeing.

We are delighted to have been involved with a project which will provide children with:

  • A warm, safe, family-style environment;
  • Access to local schools, healthcare, and leisure opportunities;
  • Personalised care and support tailored to their needs;
  • Integration into the local community, ensuring they feel included and valued.

Meeting a Genuine Need

There is a recognised shortage of small, family-style children’s homes across the country.  This development will contribute to meeting that need locally by providing a safe and supportive space where children can thrive, build resilience and look forward to brighter futures.
